Rose-Gillis statement on local election
Dear Reading Residents,
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the residents who took the time to vote on Tuesday. Voting is a fundamental right we have to allow us to choose how we move forward as a community. I am hopeful Reading will continue to increase voter turnout for our local elections. Our voices collectively are so important in how we move forward and make many important decisions for our town.
Thank you to Laura Gemme, Town Staff, the Police details, and the many volunteers who donated their time and energy to ensure a smooth election day. I believe the only drama of the day may have been the wind gusts that almost took our signs up, up and away!
This was a win for everyone, not just me as a candidate. It is a win for my friends and strangers who answered their doors when I was looking for signatures. It is a win for my core campaign crew, Linda, Margaret, Charlie, and Jan, who helped make this campaign more fun than I ever imagined. It is a win for the many people who delivered flyers, hosted yard signs, and who braved the cold Saturdays holding signs on the Common. It is a win for the many people I met at Meet & Greets who shared their stories and experiences. And it is a win for the many people Iam excited to meet in the future and I look forward to listening to their concerns and ideas.
I would also like to thank my fellow candidates, Tony, Melissa, and Chris for a terrific campaign cycle. We all stepped up with the hopes of helping Reading evolve as a community. I am sure you will agree their time, energy and commitment to our town is greatly appreciated and I look forward to working with Melissa and the other Board Members in the future. I am truly humbled by the outpouring of support and confidence you have shown and I look forward to serving you in the future.
