D’Arezzo statement on local elections

I‘d like to take this opportunity to congratulate Karen Rose-Gillis on her election and Melissa Murphy on her re-election to the Select Board.  Now begins the real work of running the Town and guiding us through the future.

I’d like to thank family, friends and everyone who supported me. It was your efforts and encouragement that allowed me to run in the first place.

I want to recognize everyone who turned out to vote, whether by mail, early or in person.  Voting is the foundation of our democracy. It is both a privilege and a responsibility.

A clean election with clear results, would not have been possible without the efforts of Town Clerk Laura Gemme, her dedicated staff and all of the poll workers. It takes considerable time, energy and raw manpower to collect and count the thousands of ballots cast.

And while this election is over, running the Town doesn’t stop. We have Town Meeting starting April 28th and a vote on the Killam School and Community Center debt exclusion on May 13th.

So join me, as we take a moment's respite, and then get back to doing the work that needs to be done.

With gratitude to all,

Tony D’Arezzo
