Murphy statement on local elections
Dear Reading Residents,
I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone, especially those who took the time to come to the polls and cast their votes. I am immensely proud of the campaign we ran.
Congratulations to Karen Gillis-Rose on winning a seat on the Select Board! I truly appreciate your clean campaign and I look forward to working with you on the Select Board.
I would also like to thank Chris and Tony for their willingness to run. Although I know you both wish the outcome had been different, I encourage you to channel that desire to serve the town into volunteering for other boards and committees.
Thank you to all those that supported my campaign especially my family who was with me tonight to celebrate. I couldn’t have done any of this without you!
Thank you to all town staff, election staff, and especially Laura Gemme for their hard work during this special election. Their dedication ensured that we had a well-run election.
I am excited about the next three years serving on the Select Board. I want to emphasize my unwavering commitment to our community—whether you voted for me or not. I am here to continue to listen, learn, and work diligently for the betterment of our town. Thank you once again for all your support.
Lastly, a big thank you to everyone who wished me a Happy Birthday! We also need to move elections to May - the weather today was awful
With warm regards,
Melissa Murphy
