Reading Lions Club to host 40th annual Journey for Sight 5K Road Race and 1-mile walk
The Reading Lions Club and Friends of Reading Recreation are inviting the community to join them for the 40th annual Journey for Sight 5K on Thursday, July 17, 2025. This annual event supports the Massachusetts Lions Eye Research Charities, raising critical funds for eye research and vision-related causes.

About the event
This year’s event marks an exciting milestone - the 40th Journey for Sight 5K Road Race and 1 Mile Walk. The Community is encouraged to come together in celebration of four decades of support for eye research. Participants can compete for prizes across multiple categories, including:
Top male, female, and non-binary finishers overall
Top 3 finishers in each gender and non-binary category by age group
New this year: A special 15 & Under category for younger runners
To keep the atmosphere festive, a DJ will provide music throughout the event, and there will be plenty of refreshments, including water and pizza, available after the race and walk.
Special commemorative shirts
To honor the 40th anniversary of the Journey for Sight, the first 250 registrants will receive a special edition long sleeve running shirt. Early registration is encouraged to secure this limited giveaway.
Community impact
All proceeds from the race benefit the Massachusetts Lions Eye Research Charities, supporting groundbreaking research and treatment advancements for vision health.
