Reading DPW to host two rigid recycling drop-off events in June

The Town of Reading Department of Public Works (DPW) is offering residents two additional opportunities this June to recycle rigid plastics, including old trash and recycling barrels. These drop-off events will help residents clear out items before the town’s curbside collection program begins in July.

Event details

  • Saturday, June 7 - For households with even-numbered addresses

  • Saturday, June 14 - For households with odd-numbered addresses

  • Time: 8:00 am - 1:00 pm

  • Location: Reading DPW Yard, 75 Newcrossing Road

Please note: only rigid plastics will be accepted at these events. Items such as paper for shredding, electronics, and Styrofoam will not be accepted.

To ensure safety and efficiency, residents are asked to follow all traffic instructions and remain patient. If the line reaches the Stop & Shop entrance, wait times could be up to 45-60 minutes.

Can’t attend on your assigned day?

Dumpsters are available at the DPW Yard for daily drop-off of rigid plastics and extra bins from 7:30 am to 2:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

Curbside collection also available this summer

The Town will also offer free curbside collection of old trash and recycling barrels on the following Saturdays, based on your usual trash pickup day:

  • July 12 - Monday route

  • July 19 - Tuesday route

  • July 26 - Wednesday route

  • August 2 - Thursday route

  • August 9 - Friday route

These efforts reflect the Town’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and responsible waste disposal. Thank you for doing your part to help keep Reading clean and green!
