Community Cleanup rescheduled: join the Conservation Commission on Saturday, May 17

Due to last weekend’s rainy weather, the Maillet, Sommes, and Morgan Conservation Area Community Cleanup has been rescheduled to Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Hosted by the Reading Conservation Commission, the event invites volunteers of all ages to come together and help make a difference in one of Reading’s recently renovated conservation areas.

Location: 62 Willow Street

(Please note parking is limited to drop-offs only. Overflow parking is available at Austin Prep.)

Why it matters

This is more than just a cleanup - its a chance to connect with neighbors, support environmental stewardship, and help preserve the natural beauty of our local trails and habitats. Whether you are a seasoned volunteer or just looking to give back, your help is needed!

Cleanup projects include

  • Trash & debris pick up along trails

  • Stormwater forebay cleanup

  • Adding woodchips to the summit path & Aberjona Trail

  • ADA pathway maintenance

  • Erosion control improvements

  • Sign installation

What to bring

  • Gloves, sturdy shoes, and water

  • Useful items (if available): trash bags, rakes, loppers, buckets, or wheelbarrows

    • No power tools, please!

    • Snacks and water will be provided for volunteers
