Senator Jason Lewis seeks summer 2025 Interns
State Senator Jason Lewis is accepting applications for summer 2025 internships with his office, offering a unique opportunity for students and young professionals to gain hands-on experience in state government. Senator Lewis represents the Fifth Middlesex District, which includes Malden, Melrose, Reading, Stoneham, Wakefield, and parts of Winchester. As a member of the Senate President Karen Spilka’s leadership team, he plays a key role in shaping public policy, particularly in education, healthcare, and economic opportunity.
Internship responsibilities
Interns will work closely with the Senator’s staff and contribute to a variety of tasks, particularly in the following focus areas:
Communications - assisting with the Senator’s media strategy, including drafting social media posts and creating informational materials.
Community engagement - supporting local projects and working with district organizations.
Constituent services - assisting in responding to residents’ concerns and researching policy matters.
Intern tasks may include
Attending project briefings and policy meetings
Researching legislative topics and statistics
Creating pamphlets, charts, and other outreach materials
Assisting with event planning
Drafting content for social media and newsletters
Interns will gain first-hand experience in public service, government operations, and policy development, with a particular focus on the work of the Joint Committee on Education, which Senator Lewis chairs.
Who should apply?
Ideal candidates should have strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and familiarity with Microsoft Office, Google applications, and social media platforms. Preference will be given to applicants with a high school diploma or equivalent, and residents of the Fifth Middlesex District are strongly encouraged to apply.
This unpaid internship offers flexible hours (8-10 hours per week) and can be in-person, hybrid, or fully remote.
