Ad Hoc Commemoration Establishment Committee continues discussion on honoring Bill Russell
The Ad Hoc Commemoration Establishment (ACE) Committee is meeting tonight at 7 pm in the Select Board Meeting Room at Town Hall (16 Lowell Street) to continue the discussion on how to properly honor Bill Russell - a legendary athlete and civil rights icon.
This meeting will docus on defining what meaningful acknowledgement and accountability look like in celebrating Russell’s contributions, both on and off the court. Committee members and attendees will work on narrowing dow the details on a potential commemorative event and explore ways to actively engage the community in this important process.
Russell, an 11-time NBA Champion with the Boston Celtics and a lifelong advocate for racial justice, left an enduring impact on the world. The ACE Committee is committed to ensuring his legacy is honored in a way that reflects his contributions to both sport and society.
